Guwahati: Scrutiny of nomination papers for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Assam ended on April 5, focusing on candidates contesting seats in the second phase of the polls. The election officials carefully checked the submitted documents, making sure to comply with the election regulations.

During the vetting process, the nominations of two candidates from Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency and one candidate from Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency were disqualified due to discrepancies in their paperwork. After the rigorous scrutiny, the final tally revealed that a total of 62 candidates were deemed eligible to contest in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

With the nomination review over, attention now turns to the next stage of the election process; Removal of nomination. Candidates have until April 8 to formally withdraw their nominations.
