Arvind Kejriwal petitions Supreme Court to extend interim bail by another 7 days Achi-News

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has filed an application in the Supreme Court to extend his interim bail (Delhi Liquor Policy Case) by 7 days.

According to the Aam Aadmi Party, CM Kejriwal will have to undergo a PET-CT scan along with many other tests in the petition filed in the Supreme Court. Therefore, they have asked for 7 days time in the Supreme Court to conduct the Vedayak test.

On May 10, the Supreme Court issued an order granting interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal till June 1. While passing the interim bail order, a bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta said that “Lok Sabha elections are the most important event this year”.

In the Delhi Tax Policy case, Kejriwal has moved the court seeking extension of interim bail by 7 days. The Supreme Court had granted interim conditional bail to Kejriwal till June 1 for election campaign in this case. He must surrender again on June 2.

Kejriwal has claimed in his petition that he has lost 7 kg of weight since his arrest. Not only that, their ketone levels also increased. In such a situation, these symptoms can be severe. Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 on charges of money laundering in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam. Kejriwal had challenged his arrest in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court recently granted interim bail to Kejriwal from May 10 to June 1 to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections. On May 17, the Supreme Court had reserved judgment on a petition filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) challenging Kejriwal’s arrest. In this case, the court allowed him to go to the lower court for general bail.

Apart from Kejriwal, the probe agency has also arrested Manish Sisodia in the Delhi Tax Policy case. He is now in prison. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was also arrested in this case. However, he has been granted bail by the Supreme Court.
