Former Test cricketer Taseef Ahmed has said that April 18 was a historic day for Pakistan cricket, and the memory of Javed Miandad’s six in Sharjah is still fresh today.

In an exclusive chat with Geo News, Taseef Ahmed said that even after 38 years, people are asking me about that one run, if that one run had not been scored, Sharjah would not have hit a six on the last ball.

Taseef Ahmed said Manzoor Elahi’s bat I got that memorable run from him, we weren’t winning the game from anywhere, Javed Miandad was getting a lot of reception in the dressing room.

He said when he reached the wicket, Miandad said what are you going to do, I said I will run away, Javed Miandad said look, then I said now, what have you done, I thought that the ball has gone into the wicketkeeper’s hands even then.

Taseef Ahmed said that the pressure is on everyone but I was not under pressure, I played the fifth ball and ran for a run, the ball went to Azharuddin whose throw could not hit the wickets.

The former cricketer said that the world was afraid of Miandad and India was very afraid.

He further said that even today there is a tree on the side of the Sharjah Stadium towards which Miandad was hit.
