The iPhone manufacturing company Apple can provide jobs to 5 lakh people in India in the next 3 years. These jobs will be produced through suppliers and component suppliers. A senior official told PTI news agency, ‘Apple is speeding up appointments in India’.

He said that currently Apple’s vendors and suppliers employ 1.5 lakh workers in India. Among these, Tata Electronics, the company that operates two Apple manufacturing plants, is the biggest job generator. However, no statement has come from Apple in this regard.

According to media reports, Apple has adopted a strategy to reduce its dependence on China since the Corona epidemic and is investing in India.

The company plans to move at least half of its existing supply chain from China to India in the next 3 years. In this framework, emphasis was placed on Indian suppliers.

The company’s target is to increase its production in India more than 5-fold to US$ 40 billion (about Rs. 3.32 lakh crore) in the next 4 to 5 years.

Apple has the highest domestic value added in the world in China
Apart from Apple, many other companies in the world have adopted this strategy, known as the ‘China plus one policy’.

Currently, Apple has the highest domestic value added in the world in China, which is about 28%. While the value addition in India is around 11-12%, which is expected to increase to 15-18%.

Apple shipped 10 million units for the first time
According to the market research firm Counterpoint Research, Apple has achieved the first position in terms of revenue generation in India for the first time in 2023. However, Samsung continues to be ahead in terms of sales.

Counterpoint reported that Apple crossed the 10 million unit shipment mark for the first time last year. According to trade intelligence platform The Trade Vision, Apple’s iPhone exports from India are set to grow from $6.27 billion in 2022-23 to $12.1 billion in 2023-24, showing a massive growth of nearly 100%.
