Besides vada pav, Rupali Ganguly is a big fan of Bengali food.
Many people, especially locals in Mumbai, love the popular street food vada pav. Actress Rupali Ganguly is one of them. He recently expressed his love for vada pav by dedicating the love song, You Are My Sonia from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham to the humble street snack. In the wholesome video, Rupali unpacks the vada pav and jokingly sings to it. The video appears to have been taken in the vanity room of his set.
Rupali Ganguly shared this video with her 2.9 million Instagram followers and wrote, “Vadapav is an emotion… Vadapav is romance… Vadapav is the maharashtrian in me!” His video already has over 23,000 likes in less than 24 hours.
Besides vada pav, Rupali loves to eat vegetarian Bengali food. In 2022, the 46-year-old actor told Curly Tales that Durga Pujo bhog food is her soul food. She listed dishes like Chola dal, Shukto (vegetable curry), Mochar Ghonto (banana flower dish and Chorchori (vegetable side dish), as some of her favorite dishes. Rupali also pointed out that Bengali food has a reputation for being heavy on fish , but many vegetarian options are overlooked.
Rupali also shared that her husband Ashwin K Verma is an excellent cook and pampers her by cooking great home-cooked food. He also packs food and sends it on Anupama’s sets as an expression of care and love.
Rupali first gained recognition for her role as Monisha in the famous sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. After a gap of several years, she rose to prominence with the launch of the TV drama Anupama in 2020. Rupali plays the beloved title role in the show.
Over the years many Bollywood celebs have expressed their love for vada pav. Actor Manoj Bajpayee recently told Curly Tales that he often piles on vada pav from his favorite vada pav food joint. The veteran actor shared that his daughter’s school is in Mumbai’s Mira Road area. Whenever she happens to go to her daughter’s school, she makes it a point to visit the Vada Pav joint near the school and buy a few parcels of Vada Pav. He explained that he follows intermittent fasting and eats small meals between 9 am and 3 pm, sometimes he has to wait patiently until he can enjoy his favorite snack.
