A 9th century Shiva linga has been found in Vietnam. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) unearthed this ancient Shivalinga in a Cham temple in Vietnam. This development (Ancestors Rising) has once again proven the ancient civil connection between the two countries.
The Cham temple complex, which is part of My Son, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam, was built in the 9th century during the reign of King Indravarman II. King Indravarman II was in charge of the famous Dong Duong Buddhist Monastery in the same area.
Monolithic structure
“During the ongoing restoration work in the temples, the ASI team discovered the Shivalinga. It is a monolithic structure with decorative patterns of exquisite cultural value,” informed an official, who declined to be named.

“Earlier six more Shiv Lingams were found in this temple. But the latest research is believed to be the most impressive,” said an official.
