An explosion occurred at a firecracker manufacturing unit near Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar district. There are news about the death of eight people during this period. It was also reported that 10 people were injured in the accident. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed grief over the incident and directed the district authorities to provide adequate medical treatment to the injured. He asked that all possible efforts be made to save people’s lives.
According to reports, the blast took place at a firecracker manufacturing unit near Sangamalpatti in Sivakasi in the district. During this period, eight workers died, including five women and three men. Seven rooms where firecrackers were kept were completely burned. Police forces and fire services took the injured to the government hospital in Sivakasi. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
Expressing sorrow for those killed in the explosion, Prime Minister Stalin said that as soon as he received information about the accident, he instructed the district commissioner to immediately launch rescue operations. It was learned that more than 10 people were injured and needed medical assistance. . Officials have also been directed to ensure adequate life-saving treatment for the injured. He said that the state government will provide relief to the affected families after getting the approval of the Election Commission.
President Draupadi Murmu also expressed grief over the accident. She said she was saddened to hear of the deaths and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. The President said in the post, “Sad to learn of the loss of several lives due to an explosion at a firecracker factory near Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
