Union Home Minister Amit Shah has now made a major statement to counter the opposition’s charges. Responding to the opposition parties’ allegations on this issue in the midst of the Lok Sabha elections, Amit Shah said, “Their parties have received donations through electoral bonds. Is that extortion? Rahul Gandhi should tell people. And according to the number of MPs, the gifts they receive are more than what we receive. They have no problems, we have no allegations of corruption. So they try to create confusion. They said they won’t succeed.

Supreme Court ruling on election bonds

Notably, in a historic ruling on February 15, the Supreme Court struck down the electoral bond scheme on the grounds that it violated citizens’ right to information. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said the plan was unconstitutional and arbitrary and could lead to animosity between political parties and donors.

‘No one dares’

Also, Amit Shah on Friday evening targeted PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for predicting unrest in Jammu and Kashmir over the abrogation of Article 370, saying no one dares to throw stones at the Union Territory now.
