The meteorological department issued an alert on Thursday saying that the storm in the Bay of Bengal may reach the West Bengal coast by Sunday. Fishermen are prohibited from going to the Bay of Bengal.

On Wednesday, the meteorological department predicted that the air pressure over the Bay of Bengal is decreasing. Due to this there is a possibility of heavy rain or storm in some areas. On Thursday, the meteorological department announced that the storm was advancing. It will reach the West Bengal coast as a severe cyclone by Sunday.

By May 26, it may reach the coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh as a severe cyclone. Due to this, there is a possibility of rain in many parts of the coastal districts of West Bengal, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and East Madinpur. According to IMD, due to the cyclone on Sunday, the wind can blow at a speed of 102 kilometers per hour. The Met Office has warned of very heavy rains over the coastal districts of West Bengal, North Odisha, Mizoram, Tripura and South Manipur on May 26-27.

He said that the existing low pressure in the Bay of Bengal may turn into a cyclonic storm over the east-central Bay of Bengal. It will reach Bangladesh and the nearby West Bengal coast by Sunday evening as a severe cyclonic storm. The weather department has given a clear warning to fishermen not to enter the northern Bay of Bengal till Sunday.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted rain with lightning and strong winds in some parts of Andhra Pradesh from May 23 to 27. Rain expected in parts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, South. While NCAP has predicted heavy rain at several places on Friday.

Strong winds gusting up to 50 kilometers per hour (km/h) are expected, the weather department said. The advance of southwest monsoon is expected to further extend to other parts of South Bay of Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andaman Sea and parts of east-central Gulf. Bengal during the next two days According to the Meteorological Department, the low pressure formed over West-Central and near South-West Bay of Bengal on Wednesday is moving towards Northeast.

The weather department said it is expected to move northeast and intensify into a cyclonic storm over east-central Bay of Bengal by the morning of May 25.

Meteorologists said the reason

Madhavan Rajeevan, former secretary of the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences, said that for a low pressure system to become a cyclone, the sea surface temperature is required to be 27 degrees Celsius or higher. The sea surface temperature in the Bay of Bengal is currently around 30 degrees Celsius.

“The Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea are very warm right now, so tropical cyclones can form easily,” Rajeevan said. “If the vertical wind shear is too great, the cyclone will not intensify. It will weaken,” he said.
