On the holy date of Akshaya Tritiya, 11 thousand Hapus mangoes were offered to Lord Rama. Ram’s devotees from the Maharashtra city of Pune showed their love for Ram to the Goddess by dedicating their first mango crop to him. The epic is considered one of the best mango varieties. It is mainly produced in different parts of Maharashtra and is sold at very high prices in Israel and abroad.
Ram devotees from Pune made preparations several months in advance to dedicate the mango phos to Lord Ram. For this purpose, the best poos mangoes of Pune were selected, packed in specially prepared baskets and brought to the temple of the Lord in Ayodhya. Today, on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, these mangoes and bottles of mango juice were dedicated to God. Farmers in various parts of the country, including Maharashtra, dedicate the first portion of their crops to their deities.
Vishva Hindu Parishad’s Sharad Sharma told Amar Ujjala that since the inauguration of Lord Ram’s temple, devotees from all over the country and the world have been coming to Ayodhya and showing their love for God in their own ways. He said that just as Mata Shabari showed her devotion towards God by feeding him with plums, so the devotees also showed their love towards God by offering these mangoes to God. He said that in view of this love for followers of Ram which has spread all over the world, including India, these political parties should refrain from criticizing Ram followers and keep hurting the sentiments of people with their offensive comments about their petty political gains.
