The salary of Air India employees has been increased for the first time in two years after it took over the Tata Group. In addition, the airline also introduced the system of an annual target performance bonus for pilots. Sources said on Thursday that the decision to raise wages will take effect from April 1, 2024, while also giving bonuses to employees based on performance in the 2023-24 fiscal year.
According to sources, Air India’s Chief Human Resource Officer Ravindra Kumar GP announced the pay hike and performance bonus for the employees. As of today, about 18,000 employees are associated with the airline. However, it was not immediately known what the extent of this salary increase was.
Control of Air India was transferred to the Tata Group in January 2022. Then the wages of its employees were raised for the first time in two years. Last year, only restructuring of contracts and compensation of long-term employees were carried out. Apart from the salary increase set for 2023-2024, the airline also offered an annual target performance bonus to its pilots based on company and individual performance, which will apply from 2024-2025, sources said.
