Chirmiri-Nagpur railway line will be established
The Ministry of Railways has appointed MCB Extra Collector as the Junction Officer of Nagpur Halt-Chirmiri, the new railway line of MCB district. A newspaper was published about it. This railway line worth Rs 240 crore was approved by the central government in 2018-19.

The state’s Vishnudev Sai government has approved the state government’s share of Rs 120 million for the railway line in the budget of 2024. After the railway ministry makes another collector, MCB the nodal officer of the railway project, the work of land acquisition and environmental clearance for the project can begin.
The expenditure for the 17 km Chirmiri-Nagpur Halt railway line was estimated at Rs 241 crore in 2018. The central government signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government in 2018 and released Rs 120 crore for this project.

The state government will acquire land
After completing the survey of the new Chirmiri-Nagpur Halt railway line, the DPR was sent to the Ministry of Railways on 13 August 2018. Due to a change of government in Chhattisgarh, funds could not be released for this project for five years and the extension work of the railway line remained stalled.
After the state government provided its share of funds, the railway ministry moved ahead with the work quickly. The state government will acquire land for the railway project.

Helpful in many ways
This train line is important in terms of passenger services. Today trains operating from Ambikpur go directly to Bridand via Nagpur road. These trains will be able to travel via Chirmiri and Manendragarh. With this, millions of people will start receiving direct services.
Five trains including Chirmiri-Rewan, Chandia, Bhopal, Anuppur, Bilaspur which would run from Chirmiri will be extended to Ambikpur due to which a large population will get the services. After the Corona period, the activity of some of them was limited.
