A special story

According to Pannalal Rawal, the temple priest, the temple is more than 1000 years old. According to the history of the temple, Lord Indra Brahma made Kandaka here. As the cow named Nandini in Rishi Vasishtha’s ashram fell into the ditch, then Sage Vasishtha called Goddess Saraswati and made Nandini’s cow, which had fallen into the ditch, come up. A stream of water is said to flow from the mouth of the cow in Vasishtha Ashram even today.

The reason for the name Achaleshwar

As the sage asked the gods to cover the deep moat outside the ashram, Arbudanchal Parvata and Arbud Nag were raised in Brahma Khai, just as the gods went to the sage when the earthquake later started in the day. Then, while the sage was sitting in penance inside the tomb, he realized that due to Shiva’s absence, the serpent Arbud was moving and an earthquake was occurring. Immediately, Mahadev’s thumb was placed in this place, hence the name Achaleshwar is said to be given to the temple.
