A youth, Nitish Kumar (20), died while threshing wheat in a threshing machine at Jamuari village in Ichak police station area of Hazaribagh district. The incident is from Monday. According to the information, Nirmal Mahato, a resident of Jamuari village, was threshing wheat in his field when he was hit by the machine and was seriously injured. Eyewitnesses and family members said that while threshing wheat, the high speed fan installed in the threshing machine pulled Nitesh towards himself. Because of this the whole body of the young man was inside the fan and only his feet were left outside. The family members also said that he and his family members were threshing wheat using a threshing machine in his wheat field at Mokatma Tand, about km away from his house, where the incident took place.
On hearing the news of the incident, nearby farmers who were harvesting wheat ran in the field and quickly opened the machine and pulled out the young man, called 108 and called an ambulance and sent him to Sadar Hazaribagh Hospital for treatment. Where he died during treatment. After the incident, thresher owner Deepak Kumar Mehta, father of Mathura Mahato, a resident of Jamuari village, ran away with the thresher. There were many things scattered at the scene including blood stains, blood stained clothes and the deceased’s slippers. The incident spread a sensation in the area. Nitesh was the eldest of three siblings. Family members including mother Basanti Devi, brother Ritesh and sister Manita are in poor condition, crying. There was grief in the village because of the incident. The stove was not burning in anyone’s house.
