Police in India have solved the mysterious death of a citizen after the suspect was accidentally caught on another person’s phone while taking a selfie video.
The incident happened in the Indian state of Kalyan in Maharashtra when a thief, who was trying to steal a train passenger’s phone, was mistakenly recorded on video, Indian media reported.
The suspect Akash Jadhav tried to make a passenger lose his phone by slapping his hand while taking a selfie video on a moving train.
According to the local police, Zahid Zaidi, the passenger, clicked a selfie video when Jadhav tried to grab his phone, but he failed in his attempt.
Zaidi, however, managed to press Jadhav’s face and posted the video from his social media account seeking help from the police.

Meanwhile, the Kalyan Railway Police found the viral video and arrested Jadhav.
“On Tuesday, we arrested a suspect against whom previous cases were registered in Thane. We found a second mobile phone from him,” said a railway police officer.
The suspect was then questioned about the phone he had in his possession, he added.
Later the police turned on the phone and discovered that the device belonged to a resident of Pune.
The man, identified as Prabhas Banja, was killed after falling from a train at Vittalwadi railway station on March 25. The police said that the cause of the fatal fall had not been determined when they opened the investigation.
When Jadhav was interrogated, he admitted that he grabbed the phone from Banja who fell from the moving train in an attempt to retrieve his phone.
“He was traveling from Kalyan to Pune. At Vithalwadi station, Jadhav grabbed his phone. To get back his mobile phone, Mr. Banja tried to get down from the train and fell to his death,” the officer said.
The local police registered a first information report against the suspect and intensified the investigation into the death of a Pune resident.
