A suspicious package in a downtown building does not pose a threat, Montreal police say Achi-News

Montreal police investigated a report of a suspicious package found Thursday in a downtown office building.

Police said they received a 911 call around 4:45 p.m. about the package found by a security guard in a building near the corner of Rene-Levesque Boulevard and St. Urban Street.

A tactical team was called in to assist in the investigation. Around 9:45 p.m., a robot was deployed to analyze the package, which was later deemed non-threatening, a police spokesman said.

Police said the building was evacuated as a precaution while the investigation continues.
