Police say 51-year-old Selan and the other man drove to a home in Welland just before 1 a.m. on April 10.
At around 1.30am, emergency services were called to Barrpowell Street in Welland after a man was found unresponsive in the road.
Passersby tried to help the man but he died on the spot.
He has since been identified as 21-year-old Flinders Park man William Holdback.
Police say Holdback met the two men on Musgrave Street.
They argued briefly before Holdbeck was allegedly stabbed, police said.
After the alleged murder, police believe the two men drove back to Elizabeth East via Walland Avenue, South Road, Fort River Expressway, John Rice Avenue and Main North Road.
The police have not yet located the alleged murder weapon, which they believe is a knife.
Anyone who finds a knife, blood-stained clothing or other items along the route between Elizabeth East and Welland has been asked to contact the South Australian Police.
Salan was refused bail and appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today. The 27-year-old was also refused bail and appeared in Adelaide Magistrates’ Court last Monday.
