KARACHI: Fines and penalties have been issued for parents who refuse to give polio shots.
According to the details, the Sindh government has decided to intensify the anti-polio campaign and has announced action against parents who do not give polio drops to their children.
Under the Immunization and Control of Epidemics Bill, 2023, powers have been delegated to Deputy Commissioners.

Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner Tariq Qureshi issued a notice of fines and penalties, in which he said that parents who refuse to administer polio shots will face a month in jail and a fine of Rs 50,000.
The notification said that action will be taken against parents who do not vaccinate on the identification of police teams and poly workers, Sindh Police has been directed to fully cooperate with the health department and poly workers.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the parents to give their children polio drops from the anti-polio teams, parents to support us in stopping the spread of the polio virus.
