The youth who has been charged with mischief and obstruction in the investigation into the disappearance of Tyson McDonald is before a judge in Georgetown, PEI, on Friday.

The youth appeared in cuffs and shackles and was escorted to court by sheriffs.

The courtroom was full of friends and family of the accused and Tyson McDonald, the boy who was killed in December.

The young man who appeared in court today was originally charged with the murder, but those charges were dropped after the young man pleaded guilty to mischief and obstructing the police.

Tyson McDonald was the subject of a five-day manhunt in eastern Prince Edward Island late last year. His body was eventually found in a wooded area south of Montague, PEI

In a joint recommendation from the crown and defense counsel, the lawyers called for a sentence of seven months. Four already served, two more to be served in a state correctional facility, and one more month under community supervision. That was followed by a year of probation.

The judge is expected to make her decision on the sentence at 2pm on Friday.
