A man was arrested in Melbourne CBD after allegedly stealing more than $60,000 worth of vinyl records from a chain store.
Police were investigating reports of a man who had been to various electronics stores on at least 13 occasions in the past four months, allegedly taking a handful of LP each time.
After using CCTV to identify a suspect, police arrested a 33-year-old man at a store in La Trobe Street on May 22.
Officers also executed a search warrant in North Melbourne and seized more than 400 vinyl records, along with a small amount of heroin and marijuana.
A north Melbourne man is expected to be charged on summonses for multiple shoplifting incidents.
The police continue to investigate whether there is a connection between the “many” record thefts in the nearby suburbs.
