The Montreal Police Arson Squad (SPVM) is investigating after a man was killed in an apartment fire Tuesday night.
The SPVM reports that multiple 911 calls around 7 p.m. prompted emergency response crews to an apartment building on Versailles Street near Forsyth Street in the Pointe-au-Trumble neighborhood.
“Firefighters located an unconscious person inside an apartment,” said SPVM spokeswoman Caroline Brafels. “Unfortunately, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Chevrefils said that the circumstances of the fire are currently unknown and that due to the death, the case has been transferred to the SPVM.
The investigation continues.
