GUWAHATI: On March 20, a dead body of a middle-aged man was found near the Hero Showroom located on Makhia Dwalia Rebel Road. Authorities later confirmed that the man died in a car accident involving an ASTC green bus.

The body was later sent to Gaheti Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination.

Speaking to GPlus, a traffic officer from the Jalockbari police station said, "The unfortunate incident occurred due to a confusion of two buses, the green bus under ASTC tried to maneuver from behind and ended up running over the body. After an initial investigation, they noticed that it was impossible to understand that a person was really sleeping there." The body remained at the GMCH mortuary until the post-mortem process was completed. Despite the efforts, the identity of the deceased remains unknown.

To assist in the identification process, the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Guwahati Police District has issued WT notices to all police stations and authorities across Assam, urging citizens to report any information regarding the deceased or his family immediately.

It was also revealed that the deceased had been living in the mountain area of ​​Kamahia Hills for the past year, sustaining himself through begging.
