A man was left shocked after biting into a Cadbury Creme Egg and watching a colony of ants crawl out.

David Cann popped into his local SPAR store in Bristol, South West England for the fondant-filled treat, but couldn’t believe his eyes after biting into the snack.

The 27-year-old took to social media to share his unfortunate experience and tagged both retailers SPAR and creme egg maker Cadbury.

David couldn’t believe his eyes when he looked at the custard egg.

A photo shared by David online yesterday shows the half-eaten pastry held between his thumb and forefinger.

The white chocolate split upon his opening bite into the bar revealing a colony of ants inside.

The insects devoured the fondant inside the egg with some leftovers on the left side of the egg.

More than fifteen ants can be seen around the top and inside of the egg happily feasting on the sweet snack.

David took the photo before sharing it on social media yesterday (Monday) evening, writing: “I had a real horror movie moment when I bit into a white creme egg to find a mass of ants inside.

“[It] Looks fine on the outside, the foil was sealed, safe to say I won’t forget it for a while.”

His post received more than 2,200 likes with hundreds of comments from sick social media users.

One said: “They are [Creme Eggs] It usually goes in my mouth whole, so the thought that this could have happened to me, and I just didn’t know, is pathetic.”

Another added: “I found a long red hair in a cream egg one year and haven’t had one since.”

A third answered: “Well, I probably won’t eat a cream egg again.”

Another commented: “It’s so sad, what a nightmare, I don’t think I’ll ever eat a chocolate egg again.”

Thursday responded: “I just hope I forget it before the next season of the cream egg.”

Creme Eggs were created in 1963 by the Fry’s chocolate company before they merged with Cadbury.
