Guwahati: A local holiday has been declared in Kamrup Metropolitan District on March 26 because of Dol Jatra. All state government offices and educational institutions will remain closed in the district on the said date.

This was announced in a statement by the Assam government in a statement published today, which reads: "The Governor of Assam is pleased to declare a local holiday on 26th March, 2024 within the jurisdiction of Kamrup (Metro) on account of the festival of Dol Jatra (Holi). All State Government Offices and Educational Institutions in Kamrup District (Metro) will remain closed on March 26, 2024 due to this holiday."

"All Financial Institutions in Kamrup District (Metro) as per clause 25 of N.1. Act, 1881 (XXIV of 1881) read with the Government of India, Home Office Notification No. 20/25/Pub-I dated the 8th June 1957 will also remain closed on account of this holiday," It was also stated in the message.
