In Begusarai also on Wednesday, a young man died of drowning while bathing in the Ganga river. The incident took place near Simaria Bhola Stan Ghat of Chakia Police Station area. The deceased has been identified as Nitesh Kumar (29), son of Niranjan Kumar, a resident of Garhara.

With the efforts of local residents, the body was evacuated and sent to Sadr Hospital for post-mortem. Regarding the incident, it is said that Nitish Kumar used to do business in tents in Garhara. Today, on the occasion of Purnima, he went to Simaria Bhola Stan Ghat to bathe in the Ganga.

During this time he drowned after entering deep water. Seeing the drowning, the local people present at the ghat tried to save him. But by then he died after entering deep water. After that, after much effort, the locals took out the body and informed the family members and the police station.
Chakiya Police Station President Neeraj Kumar said that as soon as information about the incident was received, the police team immediately arrived. He was picked up and brought to Sadr Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. A post-mortem and further process is underway. A letter will be written to the management of the area to provide compensation to the family members from the disaster fund.
