In an interview with Tamil TV channel ‘Tanti’ TV, when PM Modi was asked if the election bond details were a blow to the ruling BJP, he said, ‘Tell me what we have done, I can shock. I will see it. I strongly believe that those who fuss about it (bond details) and brag about it will repent.

The prime minister said it was only because of his government’s electoral bond scheme that he was able to trace the sources of donations and their beneficiaries. If the information is available today, it is because of the bonds, he said. Before coming to power at the Center in 2014, he questioned whether any organization could reveal the sources of the election funds and their beneficiaries. He mentioned this saying ‘No system is completely perfect. There may be some defects, which can be removed.

The opposition parties have taken an aggressive stand against the government citing the statements made after the Supreme Court order. The court declared anonymous donations unconstitutional and directed that all information relating to electoral bonds be published. Many companies facing criminal investigations had bought large amounts of bonds.

During the interview, Modi emphasized that politics should not be seen in everything. He said he is working for the country and Tamil Nadu is the biggest strength of the country.

When asked if he was confident of winning more than 400 seats after being in power for 10 years, he said that the people of the country wanted a victory similar to that of the BJP and the NDA. He said he is focused on developing India in 2047.
