Every vote has an important role in the festival of democracy, but the elderly face difficulty in walking. The Election Commission of India has removed the problem of inability to exercise the franchise. Senior voters over the age of 85 received the facility to vote at home. The whole process was supervised by senior officials under the instruction of Collector Karthikya Goyal. Voter Wali Muhammad, the resident of the house located in front of the Lakshmi Narayan temple, was born in 1931, he is now about 93 years old. He says that since the election process began in India, he has been continuously using his franchise. But at that age he faced problems. But the home voting initiated by the Election Commission gave them relief. Through this, today he used his franchise for the second time by voting in the house. Similarly, Additional Collector and Deputy District Electoral Officer Rajeev Kumar Pandey conducted a surprise check on the ongoing home voting process in the city. Tehsildar Lomas Miri was also present on this occasion. The process of home voting started on Saturday in all the four assembly constituencies in the district with maximum number of home voters in Harsia and least in Laylunga. In this framework, through the survey parties, voting was held in the homes of voters over 85 years of age and over 40 percent with disabilities. There are a total of 135 home voters in the district, which include 23 in Raigarh, 56 in Harsia, 19 in Lilonga and 37 in Drumjigarh. Out of a total of 135 voters who submitted nominations for home voting, 131 voters voted today using a mailed ballot at their home. One voter passed away. To provide the facility of voting to the remaining 3 voters through postal ballots, a team of polling officers will visit their residences again on May 2.
