8% decline in Hindu population in India! Tremendous increase in the Muslim population! Study report disclosed Achi-News

NEW DELHI: A study conducted by the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council (EAC-PM) has revealed that the population of Hindus in India has decreased and the population of minorities has increased.

The population of Hindus under the age of 65 in India is declining, with the population of Hindus being the majority religion falling by 7.8% between 1950 and 2015. But a study conducted by the Economic Advisory Council to Prime Ministers (EAC-PM) has revealed that there has been an increase huge in the population of the majority community in many neighboring countries.

According to this study Hindu population in India is less. But the proportion of minorities including Muslims, Christians, Buddhists and Sikhs has increased. However, the number of Jains and Parsis declined during this period. The Muslim population in India increased by 43.15% between 1950 and 2015, followed by 5.38% for Christians, 6.58% for Sikhs and a slight increase for Buddhists.

Earlier it was 9.84% Muslims, now it has increased to 14.09%!

According to the study, Hindus made up 84% of India’s population in 1950. By 2015 it had dropped to 78%. During the same period, the proportion of Muslims increased from 9.84 per cent to 14.09 per cent. After Myanmar, India is the second most depopulated neighboring country. The majority population decreased by 10% in Myanmar and 7.8% in India. Excluding India, there was a 3.6% decrease in the population of the majority (Hindu) community in Nepal.

Rapid increase in Muslim population in India!

The report of this study was released in May (2024), where 167 countries of the world were studied. The authors of the study said that India has seen stability compared to global trends Also, an analysis of the data shows that minorities in India are not only safe, but the population is growing rapidly, they said the authors.

Increase in Muslim majority in Pakistan, Bangladesh

While the population of the majority community in India has decreased, the population of the neighboring countries has increased tremendously. In Bangladesh, the population of Muslims, the majority community, increased by 18.5%. After that, the Muslim population increased by 3.75% in Pakistan and 0.29% in Afghanistan. After Bangladesh became a separate country in 1971, Pakistan saw a 3.75% increase in the share of the majority religious sect (Hanafi Muslims) and a 10% increase in the share of the total Muslim population.

Myanmar’s Buddhist population is less than 10%!

Myanmar, India’s neighbor to the east, has seen the biggest drop in the proportion of the majority community in its population. Myanmar’s majority Theravada Buddhist population has declined by 10% in 65 years. Excluding India and Myanmar, Nepal’s majority Hindu population decreased by 3.6%. The share of the majority community (Shafi Sunni) in the Maldives has decreased by 1.47%. However, according to the May 2024 study, India’s neighboring countries Bhutan and Sri Lanka, which have a majority Buddhist population, saw an increase of 17.6% and 5.25% respectively.

According to the study, Australia, China, Canada, New Zealand and some East African countries have seen a greater decline in the population of the majority community compared to India. The proportion of the majority community in 167 countries fell by an average of 22% between 1950-2015. In addition, the 35 high-income countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) saw an average decline in the majority community population of 29%, which is higher than the global average of 22%.
