Relief was given to about 65 lakh pensioners by the ‘Central Pension Account Office’ in the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Expenditure. The column for medical allowance and arrears is now also included in the electronic pension payment order (e-PPO).
Using this, retirees can get information about the medical allowance and pension arrears in a matter of seconds. The ‘Central Pension Accounting Office’ directed the CPPC/GBD heads of all authorized banks to upgrade their systems. Retirees do not have to deal with inconvenience. In the future, all files related to medical allowance for retirees and their arrears will be sent electronically.
According to the ministry memo issued by the ‘Central Pension Accounting Office’ on May 6, a meeting was held on this matter chaired by the Chief Auditor (Pension) last month. At the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the subject of ‘pension arrears’ and ‘fixed medical allowance’. After that it was decided that these should be included in the electronic pension payment order. CPPC/GBD heads of all authorized banks have been asked to make the necessary changes by May 15. After receiving its significant results, the process of all files related to medical allowance and arrears will be completed by electronic means. Retirees will not face any problem after the two columns, medical allowance and arrears, are included in the electronic pension payment order.
They will get relief from a manual process. Every pensioner will be able to check the status of their medical allowance or arrears in EPPO. If the concerned banks face any difficulty in starting this process, Dheeraj Kumar (SB Scientific Officer, CPAO) may be contacted for technical assistance.
