A hat cost the life of a 58-year-old Ola driver who was riding his friend’s bike. The deceased, identified as Kil Abbas Mokadam, was with his friend Amjad Ali Chaudhry on the friend’s bike and was traveling from Vashi to Mahapa when the accident happened near the White House. Originally from Sinddurg and a resident of Ulwa, Mokam wore a cap and on the way his cap flew away and following him asked Choudary to stop. Mokadam got off and went behind to take his hat. As time passed and he did not return, Chaudhary also got down and returned to check on his friend only to find him badly injured and lying on the side of the road.

The victim was taken to the hospital, died of his injuries

Chaudhary took Mukkadam to Vashi General Hospital in an auto rickshaw from where he was shifted to JJ Hospital and during treatment, he succumbed to his injuries. Even as the accident took place on February 23, the FIR against the unidentified truck driver who ran over Mukkadam was registered only on Wednesday after the friend approached the police with the complaint. “The deceased and his family were in their hometown for the ceremonies and were waiting for the month of Ramzan to end, and then they finally contacted us with an ethical complaint. We are investigating the case and trying to locate the driver with the help of CCTV footage,” said a police officer from the Turbhe MIDC police station.
