Guwahati: The Guwahati police recovered 49 stolen mobile phones and arrested five people in connection with a spate of kidnapping incidents across the city. The arrests were made following an investigation into a kidnapping case reported on April 24, in which a woman was robbed of her handbag containing a mobile phone and Rs 200 in cash by two men on a scooter at Survey Samannay Path, Dispur.

The suspects were nabbed during a search operation conducted by the Dispore Police Station and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the East Police District, which covered both Guwahati and Tamolpur areas.
