Now such senior leaders feel that they want power, ticket and seat, but they do not strive for it. It takes effort. If you feel like your identity depends on being a pastor and it doesn’t, don’t panic. If they don’t get a ticket, it doesn’t mean they should leave if they’re giving another party.

We are not angry with those who leave the party

Vadra, the legacy is there, the Congress has given him a lot, done a lot for him, for his family. Having been with the Congress for generations, they have to be patient even if they find it difficult or it may take a long time to come back to power. Power is not everything. We don’t get angry with them, we send them to a better future. But people see and realize that the ideology of any particular party is not important to them, instead they go wherever they get power or position. Only situation matters to them.

Some leaders left the party after they did not get tickets to contest the elections. Vadra said that he does not think what the Congress has done to him. They feel they should have a place and recognition and leave when they don’t get tickets or when other parties offer them. We have seen such leaders come and go over the years. When times change, you will see many people come back. But the Congress party, the India Bloc and the Gandhi family continue to raise their voices, fighting for the people. ‘I get offers from other parties too’

Robert Vadra has also expressed his desire to contest the Lok Sabha elections. “I will meet MPs from other political parties and they will offer to join their parties,” he said. He has also promised to ensure my victory in the election. Vadra said that if he thinks of becoming an MP himself, he expects the people of Amethi to represent his seat.

‘Priyanka should become an MP first’

Vadra said he wanted Priyanka Gandhi to be the first MP. Only after that I want to join. You are on our side, there are different parties, we support you, because I have friendship with many people regardless of their party, they see and understand my hard work. They feel that if you are in Parliament, the answers you give will have a place on the big stage. The work you are doing can be done on a larger scale by going to the Senedd. There are many invitations, there is pressure, I want to work hard and be among the people, my thinking is that I will definitely be involved in politics at the right time.

People of Amethi say that Smriti made a mistake by choice

Vadra said that he had campaigned for the Congress in Amethi with Priyanka Gandhi during the 1999 Lok Sabha elections. The politics of that time was different, there were attempts to instill fear in the people. At night we used to go to sensitive areas and carry posters and distribute bags. We have worked around the clock with our campaigners and assured them that we are here and that they continue to work in their areas and booths.
