GUWAHATI: In a strong statement, yoga guru and Patanjali co-founder Swami Ramdev has announced that he will challenge the Drugs and Magic (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, with a view to its removal.

In the latest episode of Guwahati Connection, GPlus’ podcast series, Swami Ramdev discusses the controversies surrounding Patanjali, the benefits of yoga, healthy living, the future of Patanjali in Assam and more.
When interviewer Siddharth Bedi Varma asked about the problems with Patanjali’s advertisements that led to the Supreme Court’s involvement, Swami Ramdev said they told the court, “What Allopathy could not do, we did.” He added, “Some people have so much hatred for Yoga, Ayurveda and Santana Dharma. They wonder how someone wearing saffron can be so successful. They want to bring us down, but these issues will keep coming.”
Regarding the status of banned Patanjali products, he stated, “There is no ban.” He explained that false information was being spread, saying, “We have published an advertisement confirming that no Patanjali product is banned. The matter was only a court matter. We will challenge and work to remove the Drugs and Magic Act as well.”
