Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Maghwal on Sunday expressed hope for the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), saying several states have started implementing it. The NDA coalition government formed at the center is very strong, so there is no need to worry.

Meghwal was speaking at a conference on ‘India’s Progressive Path in Criminal Justice Administration’ organized by his office in Kolkata to raise awareness of the three new criminal laws. Meghwal said we have mentioned the Uniform Civil Code in the BJP manifesto. States like Goa and Uttarakhand have started implementing it.

JDU leader KC Tyagi said – party not against UCC

Last week, when Meghwal said the Uniform Civil Code was still on the BJP’s agenda, the constituent NDA JDU said any such move should be done only unanimously. JDU leader KC Tyagi said that though the party is not against UCC, it wants the move to be done consensually.

Post Poll Violence Alert Center in Bengal

Union Minister Arjun Ram Majhwal, while interacting with journalists, criticized the alleged incidents of violence after the Lok Sabha elections in Bengal. Magwal said, elections are an important part of democracy. There must not be any kind of violence after the elections are over. The post-poll violence in Bengal is in our knowledge and the central government is also aware of it. There is rule of law in the country, it is not good for democracy. The BJP also constituted a four-member committee on Saturday to probe the political violence in Bengal.
