The gross negligence of the revenue staff has come to light while purchasing land for the Bharat Mala project. The issue is related to National Highway 146. For the highway, more land than required near Vidisha was included in the survey in Bhopal-Raisen-Vidisha section.

.

Even the land opposite the highway has been left out and the land beyond it has been included in the survey. This land is 500 to 600 meters away from the highway. There are also some farmers’ houses in it. The matter came to light when the farmers received the notice. When the investigation was conducted, NHAI admitted that 1.652 hectares of land had been acquired more.

It was also written that this land would not be needed in the project. But then it was written that the land purchased cannot be returned under Section 3D of the National Highways Act of India 1956. Here, Vidisha Collector Budhesh Vaidya says that I have formed a team and sent it for field verification. After the technical report comes, action will be taken as per the rules.

Farmers are decisive… We don’t want compensation, we want land, the officer said – this is not in our control

this is the case

Vidisha farmers are not getting their land back

A year ago, a land acquisition drive was initiated for NH 146 being constructed between Bhopal and Sagar. In this, 1.652 hectares of land was taken from 15 farmers of Vidisha Suakhedi Haveli village. A complaint was made to the collector in October 2023. Vidisha’s land acquisition officer wrote to the NH project director to investigate it. The investigation was completed on 11 October 2023. But there was no land available.

Farmers said that former collector Bhargava kept on assuring the farmers that they would get the land back, but no answer was found. When the farmers reached the current collector, he sent a revenue team to the village last week. The officers involved told the farmers that it was not in their power to return the land. You go to arbitration.
