Ukrainians are at risk of losing land that they will not have time to privatize by the end of 2024. According to the law, such shares must be withdrawn from January 1, 2025. This is reported by Today , writes agronews.ua.
No provision is made for privatization of land under martial law. Therefore, a problem arises – it should be deleted without privatization, but this cannot be done, because the procedure cannot be carried out.
The law on the procedure for the allocation of land plots requires that agricultural plots be privatized by 2025. Otherwise, citizens are considered to have surrendered their shares.
Lawyer Maria Levchenko explained that during the period of martial law, the land privatization procedure was suspended. The Ministry of Agricultural Policy estimated that there are about 400,000 hectares of unprivatized shares in Ukraine. And it is unfair to restrict Ukrainians from using the procedure of completion and the possibility to privatize the vicinity.
According to Levchenko, from February 2024, the parliament is considering the possibility of extending the deadline for privatization for another year after the end of martial law. At the same time, the corresponding draft law is not registered on the website of the Verkhovna Rada. Therefore, the requirement to privatize shares by 2025 remains valid.
The lawyer emphasized that the Ministry of Agricultural Policy should present a proposal with a legislative initiative. People will then be able to privatize their land plots and become full owners.
