England’s players will enjoy the ulti-mutt home away from home at Euro 2024, with portraits of their dogs dressed as royalty hanging in their bedrooms at their base camp in the German town of Blankenhain.
For those players with dogs, the team had custom portraits from Purr & Mutt, a company that transforms pets into “work of art.”
And the England team’s official Instagram account posted pictures showing off the paw-sitively cute result, with the dogs wearing crowns, capes, necklaces, and decorative attire.
Among them are midfielder Conor Gallagher’s furry Chow Chow, who celebrated his third birthday a few weeks ago on Instagram, captain Harry Kane’s chocolate Labrador, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s Cavapoo and midfielder Eberechi Eze’s Shar Pei.
Boasting a squad full of talented players, England started the tournament as one of the favorites with expectations that it could end the long drought of 58 years without a major trophy for the men’s team.
But the team have failed in their opening two games, holding on to defeat Serbia 1-0 before laboring to a 1-1 draw against Denmark on Thursday.
“It’s clear that it wasn’t what we would have hoped for, we’re not using the ball well enough and we have to accept that if you do you’re going to suffer at times like which we have,” England manager Gareth Southgate told the English Football Association’s website afterwards.
“We know there’s another level we have to find.”
England remain top of Group C with four points and can secure their place in the knockout stages with a win against Slovenia on Tuesday, although they will need to improve dramatically if they are to achieve their pre-tournament status of ‘to favorite.
