Siliguri: The Siliguri Metropolitan Traffic Police has taken several plans to prevent any untoward incident around Holi. On the occasion of Holi, programs are organized in different places of the city. In order to avoid traffic jams in all those places, it was decided to monitor the speed of small cars and bicycles. It is said that traffic police will be deployed at various crossings on Dol and Holi days.
According to police sources, care will be taken to ensure that no one drives a car or bike while drunk. For this, regular tests are carried out. Siliguri Metropolitan Police DCP (Traffic), Bishwachand Thakur said, ‘All plans have been made to ensure that the Holi festival goes smoothly in the city. We will keep an eye on everything.’
Apart from Bengalis, many non-Bengali people live in Siliguri. That is why the people of the city enjoy the joy of Holi along with rocking. The event was held in different places of the city for two days. There is a crowd around him too. Those places have already been marked by the traffic police. In order to avoid traffic jams and prevent accidents, a plan was taken to allocate space for car and bicycle parking in each area. A team of traffic police will be present at each location. Guard rails will be installed on important roads to control speed.
DCP (Traffic) said, ‘Tests will be carried out to ensure that no one drives a car or bike while drunk. Such tests will be organized at each junction.’ The police have started taking measures to prevent drunk driving and bike riding from Thursday night.
