In Surguja district, thieves broke the lock of an abandoned house and stole more than 10 tola gold and silver jewelery and 30 thousand rupees in cash. He took a gold loan of Rs 4 lakh by pawning the stolen jewelery in Bilaspur’s ICICI Bank. Now the police have arrested 5 accused.

According to the information, on April 23, Samar Prasad Jaiswal, a resident of Takia Road, was traveling from his home to his native village Dandapur with his family when his children were on vacation. When he returned on May 17, he found the lock on the house broken. 30 thousand rupees in cash and more than 10 tola gold and silver jewelery kept in the house were found missing.
A clue is found in the investigation of many CCTV cameras
A joint team of Kotwali, special police team and cyber cell was formed under the leadership of police officers for investigation. The suspects were identified after checking about 200 closed-circuit cameras at the site of the event and its surroundings. Police blocked and arrested Deepak Dewas (22), Rizwan Rahman (21) and Badal Kushwaha Kanchi (21), residents of Chirmiri in MCB district.

A former acquaintance planned the theft
During the police investigation, the accused said that they had come for theft at the behest of Ramkumar Sahu, a resident of Patna in the Kuria district. Police arrested Ramkumar Sahu alias Anmul (32). During the investigation, Ramkumar Sahu said that he knew Amit Jaiswal about six months ago. He planned the theft when a colleague went to his village. He together with the prince built the house.
Gold pawned in the bank after theft
The accused said that they came to Ambikpur on May 15 for theft. They broke the lock of the house and stole jewelry and cash. All the accused escaped separately and fled near Ambikpur railway station. Accused Ramkumar Sahu went to Bilaspur ICICI Bank and took cash as gold loan of Rs 4 lakh by pawning the gold jewellery. The accused sold the silver jewelry to unknown persons for 17 thousand rupees. The accused spent the stolen amount by dividing it between them.
The police found gold from the bank
Police seized Rs 17,000 in cash and Rs 30,000 in cash from the accused after he sold silver jewellery. The police found a gold chain, four rings, a pendant, 2 bracelets and 4 beads pawned in the bank. The police filed a theft report of Rs 3.30 lakh. The value of the seized jewelery and cash was estimated by the police at Rs 5.35 lakh.
The bank is also under investigation
Surguja ASP Amolak Singh said that ICICI Bilaspur Bank is also under investigation in the case. The stolen gold was pawned by the bank without any documents. The police produced all the accused in the court, from where they were sent to prison in judicial custody.
