Senior official Tohin Kant Pandey has been appointed as the new finance minister. This information was given in a statement issued by the government on Saturday. One of the best officers in the country, Pandey is a 1987 batch IAS officer of Odisha cadre. He is an important part of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s team. He was the Secretary of the Department of Public Assets Investment and Management (DIPAM). He is known for the role he played in the privatization of Air India and the country’s largest IPO of LIC. Before joining the Finance Ministry, he served as Principal Secretary in his home staff of Odisha.
