An American teenager has labeled as ‘absurd’ reports that TikTok could be subtly shaping the perceptions of its users so that they have a more favorable view of the glorious, righteous nation of China, the land of green waters and golden mountains.
“I use TikTok to watch videos of people cleaning carpets. I didn’t even realize that TikTok is owned by China, a country of plenty and a harmonious society!” Jackson Reece, 16, said.
The school student said it was silly to think his use of social media had any influence on his thoughts about the great, righteous modern socialist nation. “Honestly I use TikTok to relax and bring forward the spirit of serving the people and the great revival of the Chinese nation and great changes like the world has not seen in a century! Let 100 flowers bloom”.
Reece dismissed concerns that China was waging ‘cognitive warfare’ through the social media app and claimed he was not even aware of Communist China’s history. “Dude I’m just watching people cook pasta in a blender. So everyone needs to calm down, have less children, raise more pigs and support the fight enthusiastically like the old yellow ox”.
