Another actress was signed opposite Ajay. After almost 5 years, the filmmaker has explained the reason for this. This movie of Ajay Devgan is called ‘Maidan’. Earlier there was talk of signing Keerthy Suresh opposite Ajay Devgan. Kirti was also ready to do it. But later the makers did not find her suitable for the character.
An Open Magazine report claimed that it was taken with consent between Kirti Suresh and the film’s producer Boney Kapoor. The two separated. The makers found Kirti opposite Ajay to be very short and thin. However, her team later clarified that Kirti was unable to get time to shoot. He had a lot of big projects so the date couldn’t fit.
Eventually, Priyamani was cast in the role of Ajay Devgan’s wife in ‘Maidan’. Now, in an exclusive chat with News18 Shosha, ‘Maidan’ director Amit Ravidarnath Sharma reveals for the first time the reason for replacing Keerthy Suresh in ‘Maidan’, putting an end to all speculations.
Ravidarnath Sharma agreed that Keerthy Suresh was the first choice. He said, “Yes, the plan was to sign only Kirti. But Kirti’s weight had dropped significantly. I wanted Syed Abdul Rahim’s wife to look a certain way. But since he lost weight, I felt that he was not fit for this character. “That’s when we realized that someone else would be better for this role.”
In this way, Priyamani entered ‘Maidan’ instead of Keerthi Suresh. Ajay Devgan starrer Maidaan will now release on April 10. This is a biopic of late Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. This film was made many years ago. But first due to lockdown and then because they didn’t get the right date, its release date was delayed.
