PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court declared the Election Commission’s decision to distribute reserved seats as per Article 51. The Sunni Unity Council was not declared entitled to reserved seats for women.
The Peshawar High Court issued a detailed decision on the Sunni Ittehad Council’s request for specific seats. The 30-page judgment was written by Justice SM Atiq Shah.
The detailed judgment said that the Peshawar High Court has jurisdiction to hear cases from special seats up to the state.
In a detailed court decision, the decision of the Electoral Commission to distribute certain seats in accordance with Article 51 was declared.
It was further stated that the Sunni Ittehad Council is not entitled to reserved seats for women.
It should be recalled that the 5-member bench of the Peshawar High Court unanimously rejected the petitions against the decision of the Sunni Ittehad Council Election Commission regarding certain seats.
