The government is ready to fulfill another major condition of the International Monetary Fund
Islamabad: The federal government has started preparations to fulfill another important condition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The power division requested affidavits from the management and staff of the disks according to which there was no theft of electricity in their territories and fresh orders were issued from the electricity division to all the disks.
In the post, directions were issued to the concerned SEs, XENs, SDOs and linemen to submit affidavits immediately.
The letter states that it must be written in the affidavit that there is no theft of electricity in their area, the police officers and staff can be fired if theft of electricity on industrial, commercial, agricultural and domestic meters is proven.
Officials in the power division said that the International Monetary Fund demanded strict measures to stop electricity theft.
According to the Nepra report, 12% line loss limit has been set for DISCOs, line losses of DISCOs are more than 16.7%, DISCOS lost Rs 166 billion in line losses in last financial year alone.
Officials in the electricity division further say that there is a loss of Rs 3 billion a year on one line losses, the government has promised new measures to stop theft in the electricity sector to repay the last installment of the loan.
