More than a week after a massive fire in Kuwait killed 50 people, the Foreign Office said on Friday that 17 injured Indians were still being treated in hospitals there. Everyone’s condition is stable.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said the Indian embassy is in contact with local authorities, patients and their relatives to ensure the safety of the injured. On behalf of the Kuwaiti government, the emir announced $15,000 as compensation for the families of those killed in the fire incident. According to him, the company has announced a payment of 8 lakhs to the families of the dead. According to him, the Prime Minister announced on June 13 a grant of 2 lakh rupees to the families of the dead and 50,000 rupees to the injured.
46 Indians died in the fire
and so196 migrant workers lived in this building and of the 46 Indians who died in the tragedy, 24 were residents of Kerala. The Kuwaiti government has launched an investigation into the incident.
