The Congress on Sunday (April 7) urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address key issues his government needed to focus on in Bihar, saying that while the BJP “excelled” in forcing its way to power, his administration left much to be desired.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh posed questions to the Prime Minister regarding Bihar ahead of his rally in Nevada.

“Today the prime minister is going to Nevada in Bihar – the state where the BJP orchestrated the collapse of its last government. They did excel in forcing their way to power, but the BJP’s administration left a lot to be desired,” said Ramesh.

He hoped the prime minister could answer three questions about the issues his government should have focused on.

When the prime minister visited Nevada before the 2014 elections, he raised the issue of the Varisaliganj sugar mill and asked why it remained idle for so many years, Ramesh noted.

“This raised the hopes of thousands of locals as in its heyday, the factory directly employed 1,200 workers and also supported hundreds of sugarcane farmers. BJP MPs from Nevada, Jiraj Singh (2014) and Chandan Singh (2019) also They promised to start sugar mills during their tenure. Ten years later, all these promises have come to nothing,” he said.

When the Prime Minister visits Nevada this time, he must answer the people why the Varisliganj sugar station has remained idle for the last 10 years, asked Ramesh.

“They might have changed the name of Race Course Road but the BJP continues to bet on horse trading. Given the BJP’s disrespect for the democratic values enshrined in our constitution, no government was safe from their political manipulations,” he claimed.
