GUWAHATI: The Kamrup District Administration (Metro) has vowed to take strict action against the commercial establishments using domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders.
According to a press release issued by the district administration today, there have recently been allegations of the use of domestic LPG in various commercial establishments in the Kamrup Metropolitan District, including hotels, restaurants and canteens. The use of uncontrolled pressure regulators in the yellow bonded gas cylinders throughout these establishments could cause any accident at any moment.

In addition, the business establishment is violating Sections 3(c) and 7(c) of the Bandhan Local Gas Supply and Distribution Control Act, 2000 thereby. The government loses revenue from businesses that use domestic instead of commercial gas cylinders.
“Therefore, all business establishments are hereby warned to use commercial gasoline cylinders in their establishments. Legal action will be taken against such establishments if they are found using domestic cylinders,” the press release said.
Sources in the district administration said that an enforcement team has been formed which will soon carry out rigorous raids across Guwahati.
