Hearing in the Supreme Court on a petition related to sex reassignment surgery
The Supreme Court on Monday heard a public interest litigation related to uncontrolled sex reassignment surgeries in the country. During this, the court sought answers from the Center and CARA. The court also asked Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati to assist in hearing the PIL. In the PL, the Ministry of the Interior of the Union, Social Justice and Empowerment, Health and Family Welfare, Law and Justice and the ministries of the European Union became parties to the petition.
