Sub-Lieutenant Anmika B. Rajiv became the first helicopter squadron of the Indian Navy. He received the prestigious ‘Wings of Gold’ after completing rigorous training at the Naval Air Station in Arkonam, Tamil Nadu. Ladakh’s first naval officer, Lt. Jemyang Tswang, has successfully graduated as a certified helicopter pilot.

A passing out ceremony was held at the Naval Air Station INS Rajali on Friday after 22 weeks of intensive training, which saw all 21 helicopter pilots of the Indian Navy undergo rigorous flying and training in the 561st Air Squadron, the Navy said in ground training included. Among these officers, Sub-Lieutenant Rajeev and Lt. Sueng were awarded ‘Wings of Gold’ by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pandharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.

Underscoring the Indian Navy’s commitment to gender inclusion and expanding career opportunities for women, Sub-Lieutenant Anmika B. Rajiv created history when she graduated as the first naval helicopter pilot, the Navy said in a statement. Meanwhile, Lt. Jemyang Tswang, the first naval officer from the Union Territory of Ladakh, has successfully completed his studies as a qualified helicopter pilot. Sub Lt Rajiv will be allowed to fly helicopters like Sea Kings, ALH Dhruv, Chetak and MH-60R Seahawks.
