The Excise Department and Sadar Police jointly conducted a raid operation in Manikpura Pandeypura Panchayat village of Sadar police station area and arrested a smuggler with 6.85 kg of ganja and sent him to jail on Saturday. Upendra Yadav’s father, the arrested smuggler, Vinod Yadav, lives in Manikpura. The price of recovered ganja in the market is Rs 3.5 lakh. This information was given by Inspector Sonu Kumar of the Excise Department. He said that the Superintendent of Production had received confidential information that illegal ganja business was going on in Manipura village. After this, a team was formed and a raid was conducted at Upendra Yadav’s house. During the raid, 6.85 kg of ganja was found hidden in four jars underground in a cattle shed behind the house. To a query about the recovered ganja, Upendra Yadav said that ganja was also produced in the house. After this it is sold in the local market. Many soldiers including Circle Officer Arvind Devashish Toppo, ASI Krishnapal Singh of the police station were involved in this operation. It is known that many people from villages like Pandey Pura, Manikpura, Kadhima etc. have been involved in the ganja smuggling business for a long time. If the police conduct an impartial investigation, more revelations can be made.
